In English:

About me

The basics: Cis-woman. 28 years old. From Mexico. Ph.D. student at The University of Hong Kong. Engineer by profession. Cinema is my passion.

Learn is what I like to do the most, and I wish I’ll never stop doing it. When I decided what I wanted to study, I thought I’d become an engineer working for some transnational corporation, traveling around the world making industrial automation a reality (as if it weren’t already). But then I realized that what I’m really passionate about is doing something with my own hands and enjoying every second of the process, be it robots, blogs, or bread; and more recently, research.

That’s why I am now doing research in Education. I’m currently outlining a project to enhance AI and data literacy among high-school students. My research interests are constructionism, STEAM and maker education, creative learning and learning by doing, in the broad sense all these imply. I have also been interested in the social nature of learning, in the old fashion way of Vygotsky’s social constructivism, and hopefuly I will delve more into it in the future.

It goes without saying that I am a total nerd. In my spare time I have taken (and completed) MOOCs just for fun. I have a fond love for statistics (so much so that I even consider it as a Ph.D. major), and I’m a enthusiast of philosophy of science, popular psychology, linguistics, and cognitive science. I like cooking, baking, jazz music, playing drums and percussions, and I dream of one day learning to play the trumpet. More than all the above combined, I love cinema: watching it, reflecting on it, and discussing it. Let’s be friends on Letterboxd 🍿😄!. Despite all of this, I can’t fool anyone, I spent most of my spare time watching YouTube videos or listening to podcasts. Suggestions are more than welcome 😎.

About this blog

I had always wanted to start, but I finally made it. Procrastina…who? 😅. It’d be nice to say that I have a crystal clear idea of what I am going to write about, but this is mostly a way to reflect on my own impressions about life and recent experiences. Hopefully some of this will make sense, and even someone out there will be interested.

This [blog] is also a new look for my personal site. You will also find my academic profile and (basically null) professional experience, plus I’ll share what I’ve learned, and update my projects.

I won’t lie about how often I will post, but I’ll try to be consistent and do it at least once a month. Promise not to abandon this blog. Primaraly I’ll write in Spanish; only when I feel like it I’ll do it in English. Main sections are in both languages, and you can use English or Español tags to filter out posts.

Hope you enjoy reading this as much as I do writing it. Visit all the sections and tell me what you think. If you find something that could be improved on the site, or is misspelled, kindly fill out the Contact form.
